The Vancouver skyline is varied and attention-getting and even though the city is not exactly known for having structures that are hundreds of years old, there are a number of buildings that do have some most interesting shapes.

We go from Metro Center to 12th Street and Constitution Avenue to begin our journey into the world of Japan. The first booth is usually set up by Southwest Airlines, who sponsors the parade. Here we stop to get our names written in Japanese characters (for free of course). Our first souvenior in hand we continue.

While we are busy celebrating, let us not forget our pets. They will luxuriate in the outdoors and any accidental scraps that little Susie will accidentally drop right in front of their faces. However, most pets do not look forward to Fireworks like we do. Most of you have made preparations to protect your pets from the pitfalls of Polenböller from Fido’s point of view: unpredictable, eardrum-cracking, heart-attack inducing, 30-45 minutes of sheer terror falling from the sky.

That’s how I feel as I sit down to right this article. I feel like I’m arguing with a parent. Toastmasters is the organization that spawned my interest in public speaking. Toastmasters has molded me as a speaker and leader.

D.C. United: D.C. United of the MLS is a four-time MLS Cup winner, the championship for the league, and is one of only two U.S. teams to ever win the CONCACAF Champion’s League final, pitting the top club teams in the World Cup qualifying region against one another, doing so in 1998. With three separate fan supporting groups and a pretty rowdy home game atmosphere, particularly considering that unlike many other MLS franchises, they still play in a football stadium, D.C. United is one of the under the radar favorites of the D.C. sports scene.

I changed my mind on a couple sports. I kind of liked trampoline. Those performers are really talented and it’s a fun event to watch. I also thought team handball is worth saving and I especially enjoyed beach volleyball, men’s and women’s. But I wouldn’t miss field hockey, men’s or women’s, men’s synchronized diving, softball, baseball and, once again, equestrian, although I thought those animals were magnificent.

Spend Sunday at the carnival, seeing the DJ and puppet show if you have children. Take your time enjoying the rides and games…let the atmosphere really seep in!
